Ministry Title
Leadership Team President

Position Purpose
The Leadership Team President identifies, plans for, and reacts to potential ministry challenges and provides a constructive atmosphere for the congregation to translate its dreams and goals into reality and involves motivating, communicating with, and providing leadership to elected chartered team representatives and/or chartered team leaders. This is accomplished by clearly understanding the Mission/Vision/Values of the congregation, and by providing organization, human and other resources, training, support, and direction necessary to get the work done. The Leadership Team President also works with other team members to provide spiritual direction to the congregation, develop and direct the vision for our future, and oversee the annual budget.

Ministry Description

  1. Provide counsel to the Leadership Team, congregation, and pastor.
  2. Serve as intermediary between congregation, Leadership Team, pastor, and others to resolve sensitive and/or confidential issues.
  3. Maintain a thorough understanding of the constitution and Robert’s Rules of Order.
  4. Maintain an understanding of the financial and physical operation of the church.
  5. Maintain an understanding of the relationship between the professional staff, the Leadership Team, the congregation, and the community.
  6. Serve on the Executive Committee.
  7. Preside over all Congregational, Leadership Team, and Executive Committee meetings.
  8. Supervise and support chartered team representatives and/or leaders and their ministries.
  9. Maintain records to be used by your successor.

Time requirements
Leadership Team meets once a month. Executive Committee meets at least once annually. Annual Congregational meeting is held in November. The Leadership Team holds a one-day retreat once or twice a year. The time commitment is approximately 15-20 hours per month.

Term
The Leadership President serves for two years, the first year as President-Elect and the second year as President of the Leadership Team.

Training/Resources
The Leadership Team President prepares for the position by serving one term as President-Elect working closely with the President and Leadership Team.
